So its getting closer and closer to launch date, and I'm starting to get super excited. I'm also a little nervous, because 9 months worth of planning and you want to make sure that everything goes right. However, things have not been the easiest so far. I recently broke and dislocated my pinky finger and had to have surgery to realign it. It had seemed like I was looking at splints and casts all the way up until right before I leave. Thankfully everything is starting to heal, my pins are getting removed on May 30th and I don't have to go into a cast. I will have to do a little bit of physical therapy, but that is to be expected. The only glitch is that I have to wear my splint to training camp. Better that then while on the trip, so I am thankful for that. Although I will have to admit that training camp with a couple of bum fingers should be pretty interesting.
Anyways as the countdown starts to launch date (July 1st) I'm trying to figure out all the stuff I need and start to get it. I have all of my major necessities like my tent, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, shoes, mess kit. The only thing I am missing is something like a netbook or tablet to take with me so I can keep up with my blog and keep in touch with everyone. If anyone has one that they aren't using and would like to donate to my mission trip I would greatly appreciate it! If you can't do that then you can just make a sonation to my trip by clicking on the "support me" button. I am currently at $4,005, plus a promised donation of $1,000 from my church, which is great. However, I still need to raise $10,500 more for my trip. I must have $6,500 in the middle of June, $11,000 by October, and all $15,500 of it in my account by January 1st, 2013. So please consider supporting me so that I can go out and serve Christ through this incredible experience!
I would also really appreciate it if you kept me in your prayers in my preparation leading up to it and while I am out in the field! Plus just think of it as helping to get rid of me for a year lol!

Alright my dear sweet Brandi Lynn Wilcox did all of the leg work for this and had posted it on her blog but I thought it was so incredible that I would use it to share with all of you. So Thank you Brandi!!
Where does the money go?
1. How are you going to live off of this for 11 whole months?
As a World Racer, the $15,500 is broken down by these categories...
Training Camp--$320
Field Support--$620
WR Development Program--$1,860
Administration Fees--$2,635
World Racer--$10,075
As you can see, 65% of the funds that I will be raising go towards my expenses for the 11 months.
My budget is broken down into these categories...
Intercontinental Travel--$4,235.00
Food--$1,256.25
Lodging--$1,758.75
Transportation--$1,005.00
Long Distance Travel & Misc. Supplies--$1,115.55
In addition to the expense of $15,500, I will need to purchase/have donated the following items:
International Medical Insurance (up to $500)
Backpack (aka my closet for 11 months :)
Netbook (with built-in webcam)
Sleeping bag (20 - 35 degree)
Sleeping pad
2 person tent (light & small)
(DISCLAIMER: I am going to attempt to purchase most of these items myself, but if you would like to help me along the way just comment or message me.I do already have my backpack, medical insurance, sleeping bag, sleeping pad, and I am about to purchase my tent)
DEADLINES: As with most fundraising, there are deadlines that are set up by AIM that I am required to meet. Here they are...
$3,500 - Due 5/5/2012 (2 weeks before Training Camp)
$6,500 - Due 6/17/2012 (2 weeks prior to your trip)
$11,000 - Due 10/1/2012 (End of 3 months on the field)

I have decided to take a week to jump start my preparations. I have taken out most of my distractions and I'm using that time to solely focus on God, and his plan. Trying to find peace about the whole financial situation with this trip. Yesterday I read Romans, and it was extremely uplifting and powerful. I'm going to continue to read on through Phillipians, Ephesians, Colossians, Galations, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd John. I would encourge anyone who is feeling overwhelmed and stressed about their life to read along. Or even if your not feel free to join me because it is a great read. I'm also going through this bible study guide I had from a couple years ago called "Exchanging Life with the Word of LIfe." I'm really excited as to what God is going to reveal to me over the next week, and in the next several months to follow. It should be interesting to see how this preparation will bring me so much closer to him, and prepare me for my trip.
"I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me." ROMANS 15:30

So over the past couple months I have been saving my own money and brainstorming for fundraising ideas, but I don't have much to show for it. Now I have 4 months until training camp and 6 months until I leave for my trip and I am freaking out! I'm worried I won't be able to raise the money to go. If I do I'm worried I won't raise the money to stay on the trip, and I don't want to be sent home. I know I'm supposed to trust God that he will provide, but I'm struggling with that. Not that I'm doubting God's power as a provider, its just that I feel like I procrastinated too long. I didn't get everything taken care of early enough and now I'm worried that its going to come back and bite me in the butt. I don't wanna miss out on this amazing opportunity because I was too much of a procrastinator. I realize that this isn't the most uplifting blog, but I wanted to be honest about my thoughts and feelings during this whole journey. Anyways, that is what I am currently dealing with. I'm praying for piece of mind and a clear idea on fundraising, but I could really use your prayers as well. Please partner with me in this incredible journey!!

My name is Joan Moore. I am 22 years old and I was born and raised in Massillon, Ohio. Now that all the basic information is out of the way I can go a little further in depth. I grew up in a Christian home with loving parents and four crazy brothers. So I have always had an idea of who Christ is through church, and sunday school, and all that good stuff.
I struggle with several health problems like asthma and migraines. When I was younger I was convinced that these health problems were going to hinder my plans for my life, but I later found out they would be the very thing that sparked them. One day in October of 2005 I woke up with a migraine, and I ended up battling this migrain for 5 months. Well one day while I was at home I started watching a television program about sleeping sickness in Africa and it sparked my interest. That is the exact moment that I realized God was calling me to become a missionary nurse.
Fast forward 6 years later in the spring of 2011, I am getting ready to apply for the nursing program. I sent in my application and eagarly awaited my reply saying that I had been accepted. A few weeks later I finally recieved my e-mail about nursing school and when I clicked open it had said that they were sorry to inform me that I was not accepted. I was crushed, after 6 years of hard work was thrown out the window in one e-mail. Since I was determined to be a nurse I decided I was going to change campuses and try again in the fall. I had planned everthing out, which was the problem.
On June 27th, 2011 I was walking down my steps, I missed one of the steps and fell. I was at the bottom of the steps and I realized that I had severely broken my ankle. I was taken to the hospital and given x-rays, I had broken my leg in 2 places and needed surgery immediately, where they put 3 screws into my left ankle. This injury required 12 weeks of recovery and 2 surgeries. So needless to say my plans for school in the fall went right out the window. During these 12 weeks I was stuck at home sitting on my butt I started to seriously struggle with depression and incertainty. I didn't know what I was going to do about school, work, anything. I also realized that I don't really want to be a nurse; I only wanted to be a nurse because I thought it would make me a better asset on the mission field. Then one day my mom asked me "If I could do anything in the world right now what would it be?" My answer was I would be out in the mission field. So that's the moment I decided to drop everything and head out into the mission field. Through extensive prayer and consideration I have found myself being called by God to partake in the World Race.
So that is a little bit about my journey and how I came to participate in the World Race. This is just my first post and I will posting more about my walk with Christ and my preparation for this Amazing and Intense journey ahead!!!
